2018 was a great year for solar. 2019 is looking even better with more rebates and
incentives offered by the Federal and State Government
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY
Federal Government subsidy scheme officially known as the SRES (Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme) entitles individuals and small businesses subsidies when installing eligible small-scale systems. The value of this subsidy fluctuates depending on the market demand and certificate prices. This rebate will reduce every year until it is eliminated in 2030. The current Small Technology Certificate (STC) rate is bouncing around $36, which accumulates to $2,900 – $4,176 of subsidies for a 5kW-7kW Solar PV System.
STATE GOVT SUBSIDIES
State governments solar programs, in addition to the federal government subsidy are now accessible to residents of several states. Such programs include offering interest free loans, rebates/grants for installing batteries, solar for renters and a further 50% rebate on installing solar panels which is currently applicable only in Victoria. These rebates and incentives make solar more affordable than ever before.
